Towards higher power inductors for power electronics, foil winding become attractive. Also the centre leg can be suppressed in some designs; the magnetic material is used as screening and for guiding the field lines parallel to the foil. There are analytical equations which accurately predict the inductance in 3D and other expressions which accurately predict the eddy current losses in the winding, or the general impedance function.
